2003 chevy surburban

Someone tried stealing my truck and messed up the steering wheel column. I got the column replaced but it still wont stay on. It'll crank but wont stay on. Do I have to get the computer flasked or is it something with the security system that's keeping it from staying cranked?

Is the security light on the dash flashing or staying constantly lit? On the 2003, is the ignition switch part of the column, and if so what did you do as far as the ignition key is concerned, a new one came with the column? Need more details as to what happened with the original ignition switch and key.
