I have a 2003 Chevy Malibu automatic3.1litre. I drove it to work yesterday, went out at lunch time with it, then went to a couple of places after work then drove home parked the car in the yard because the yard needed shovelling. Then when i started it to put back in the yard it would just turn over and not start. I left it for a couple of hours tried it again and still it would not start. Tried again this morning and it still wont start this morning. What could the problem be?
The car is 3/4 full of gas.
And the security light is not on either.

more than likely it is in ignition, check to see if you get /got fire to spark plugs

Look and see if the car security system is engaged. If not that it may be a starter or even the fuel pump or clogged filter. If its turning over its less likely that its a battery.

Well, how is the fuel level?
Other than gas you also need spark. It is possible, considering the brand of vehicle that you have had a failure with a part that routes 12 volts to the ignition module.
I doubt that the timing chain has failed, very long shot.
