I know that there are a lot of issues with this model, especially with the Theft System and the car not starting. I have quite the history with my car not starting, and I need some help now. My car (03 Malibu) has had issues with not starting multiple times, resulting in having 2 fuel pumps changed, and then having the ignition fixed as well. My Theft System light JUST turned on today, so I read in the manual AND online that your supposed to leave the ignition in the ON position for 10 minutes. So my question is, IF I do this (key in on position for 10 min) when the theft system light is on, will this ALWAYS turn the light off? Or is this just a temporary fix?

Also, if I am in a situation where the car is not starting, and I leave the keys in the ON position for 10 minutes, will that help the car start up again? It happened twice, where my car didn't start, so we towed it to some garage and left it there for the weekend. That Monday morning, I got a call saying that the car started with no issues...

ANY help is much appreciated!

It sounds like you do have a passlock problem. It is usually the passlock sensor in the lock cylinder. Leaving the key on for 10 minutes just resets the security system but as soon as the sensor acts up again it will not start again so this is just temporary. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
