2002 suspension noise

I have a 2002 Malibu with 36k miles. The front suspension started making noise a few weeks ago. Sort of a creeking sound with car body movement Not related to any rotation of wheels. Mechanic states that he can find nothing wrong.
Has anyone had anything similar to give me a direction to look in?
