My 2001 chevy malibu seems to be leaking anti-freeze, thus creating it to over heat. Not to mention one of the fans that is suppose to help cool off the engine is not working. When one of my friends looked at it, he said the leak may be coming from the head gasket. Is this possible? And if so how much would replacing a head gasket cost? Also any suggestions on how to get that fan working again? It has 99,300 miles on it, I've never had a problem with the car besides replacing the break pads and drums

yes it could be leaking from the head gasket, and this would be very expensive to fix. if it has a bad head gasket if may be leaking antifreeze into your oil too, but this depends on where the leak on the gasket is, it could also be leaking into a cylinder which would cause you to have some steam coming out of your exhaust. worst case scenario is you have a cracked head or block, both being very costly to fix, even your head gasket will be very costly to replace. i would recommend going to an auto parts store and getting some coolant stop-leak, follow the instructions on the bottle. as for the fan check your fuses and the wiring going to the fan, if these are ok chances are you need a new fan, a lot of cars now you can buy just the fan motor and this is usually pretty cheap to replace.
