Someone please help me! I have a 2001 Chevy Impala LS that is either having a starter or ignition swith/lock problem. When I attempt to start my car, it will not crank but the radio will come on as we'll as the other electrical devices. Now, my ignition switch/lock(not sure of he diff) is giving me problems for awhile for example, whenever I put the key in to attempt to crank the car the ignition will not turn you have to keep trying to turn then eventually it will turn. I know I need a new switch/lock but is that affecting the starter? Now once the key finally decides to turn the car will not crank immediately you have to turn the key 2 or 3 times and it will then crank(this just stated this week). I have a locksmith coming to look at my car today to repair the lock but if that is not the problem I need to cancel and go to a mechanic. Any expertise advice anyone can give is greatly appreciated. My battery is approx 1 to 11/2 years old and its not the alternator because once it cranks its fine. I do undertsand that I need to take it to a mechanic but I want to be somewhat inform so they will not overcharge me. Thx.
