My 99 Chevy sat up for a while and the battery died and when replaced with a new battery the trucks alarm won't go off, and the remotes for the alarm won't work. I did the obvious and changed the batteries is the both remotes lights on remote come on but no response. I was wondering if some had to be reset or to turn the key so far and push the button. What ever anyone thinks will work please reply back. Also I believe that the alarm is aftermarket.

I tried checking some sources, but could not find a direct answer. My best suggestion is that its your key, Seeing as some newer model vehicles have a chip in the key that is the one of the only things that will turn off your alarm. So, therefore... with the battery secured in place get in the truck and turn it over.

If this does not work... and it is a aftermarket system, do some exploring around the vehicle and see if you can find the security unit..(Usually under the dash, i believe) and contact the manuacturer of the alarm system and/or remove it. DO NOT DESTROY IT. Obviously, you could cut the wrong wire. lol

Good luck.
