I have a 1998 chevy silverado 3/4 ton, extended cab 4x4. It has the 7.4L (454ci) gasoline engine, I am currently getting about 150-160 miles per tank. i use 93 octane gas. the problem is that im barely getting 8 mpg.
Does anyone have an idea of what i can do to get a little better MPG?

This is the work that I have currently have done and continue to due as a preventive maintenance for my truck.

new transmission filter and fluid
tire alignment
oil changes every 3000 miles
air filter
new exhaust 3 inch
fuel injection cleaner
differential fluid
fuel filter
spark plugs and wires
8 MPG in the city. Also i have a 245/75R16 Tire on the truck...

8 mpg in the city driving or 8 mpg on the highway .

without knowing that your question is incomplete and usless.

that said
big tires kill mpg
gas with Alcohol in it kills mpg big time ( that's government lobbyist)
clogged cat converter ( not likely)

more likely one or more of the temp sensors on your eng is broken and feeding wrong info to the computer

Bad oxygen sensor on the exhaust , maybe.

i would suspect sensors screwing with fuel mixture.

Also;
buying high octane is a waste of money
unless you are doing it because it contains no alcohol.
