the post below was from another user in 2010 that was not answered.
I have the exact same problem. does anyone know what it could be?

I have a 1993 2.2L Chevy cavalier ...b 4 i messed with it......it would shut off like 5-10mins after started...then die...(it stops firing..) well if you let it set it would start and run all day long for you no problems...I know it stops firing b/c I looked after it dies...well I replaced the crank sensor and spark plugs...use the contact stuff on the plug-in on crank sensor....well I started it...moved it maybe 10 feet to put it in my drive way and shut it off....went in for the night....I came out the next day...it started and died...then it went dead completely....no spark....i replaced the coils....had the ign module checked...and even got another.. to try....nothing at all...no spark......what now........when it had spark it was like orange...

Did you replace all the parts mentioned in the original post? Did you determine you have no spark? Did you check the fuel pressure when it wont start?

yes I checked the fuel pressure and had 44psi, replaced the parts mentioned and checked them out with a meter except the icm which I had 2 different autozone stores check, I have no spark now. What’s odd is I had an orange spark before. I did check the wiring harnesses which appear to be in good shape

Problem solved, I ran into a retired Chevrolet mechanic today and explained the problem. To make a long story short I brought the ICM to him. He tested it and it failed. Put another ICM in today and the car runs great. Not sure what was up with Autozone. Guess sometimes you just need to find someone with years of experience and listen well.

Great to hear you got it fixed.

You're dealing with kids that don't know diddly about cars for the most part when you go to Autozone. They don't half way listen when you try to teach them how to do things. How do I know? I worked for the zone for five years and finally got tired of the stupid kids they kept hiring and quit. Even most of the managers are too frigging lazy to pull a parts catalog from under the counter to find a part for a customer. If the computer says "NA", that's good enough for them. I can't begin to tell you how many parts I found in the store on the shelf when the computer showed "NA". Pissed off a lot of customers when I quit.
