I have a 4 door 1976 chevy nova base model. My differential (i believe at least ha) has recently broken and rather than buying a new one for a lot of money, im going to look for one in a junkyard or online.
What differentials are compatible with my car? What makes/models and between what years?
It has a small block 305 V8. It has a limited slip differential. Im not sure what gears are in there now but i could find out if necessary.
Also, is there anything else i should be replacing in addition to the differential?
as far as im aware of, its just the differential thats broken and making this awful loud banging on every rotation of the wheels, and the whole car especially the rear end jerks quite a bit. It happened after making a left hand turn sort of hard, and my right wheel is the power wheel. I have done a couple brake torques to spin the tire recently, and trust me i plan to stop after this is fixed.
