2006 Equinox. The wiring for window, lock, and speakers running into the driver's door have almost all been pulled out or broken inside the door jam. PICTURE ATTACHED. Seems obvious that they were installed too tightly and repeated opening and closing of the door just messed it all up. Dealership and other shops want over $500 to fix this! Plus another $100 just to "diagnose" what I can already show them
I've seen others who had similar problem and were able to spend like $10 to splice the wires themselves. Does anyone have more info about this process or anything helpful at all? I'm trying to clean it up, fix it up and sell it because it's a good time for a new truck, but this is causing some serious issues. I believe the loose wiring is also affecting the battery because it tends to take multiple tries and gas up to start. PLEASE HELP! Thanks

Just get some of the same gauge wire, some butt connectors and heat shrink. Add about two to three inches of wire to them using the butt connectors and make sure to use the heat shrink around your connections. Wrap it all with electrical tape and get rid of it. I had an 07 model that the same thing happened to. Traded it off and have never looked back.

Thanks Chuzz. That does sound like the most simple fix. The problem is, and it sounds like you dealt with this as well, that pulling back that cover to reveal the wires only leaves about 2 fingers worth of space to work with. Well I guess I'll hit as many wires as possible, getting ready for some delicate surgury

Yeah, it's not an easy task, but doable. Just take you time and whatever you do, don't get peeved and start yanking wires. You might try removing the door panel to see if you can find any slack that way.
