My truck has had an ongoing problem every since I busted a motor mount, while pulling a heavy load up a steep grade. It became increasingly hard to start and then wouldn't. It would also die while driving down the road and restart while coasting to a stop. I put the code reader on it but it no longer has any power output. The cruise control does't work when the vehicle re-starts itself. First I checked all the grounds over on the truck that I could find. (no Change) Then I changed the fuel pump and this worked for about a month. Next I changed out the fuel pump and fuel regulator. This once again worked for about a month.Went to town bought an OEM fuel pump in hopes that it was just crappy Carter pumps. Just like always this fixed it for about a month. Because it shuts down so quick while driving down the road, coupled with the fact the code reader stopped getting a signal, I puchased an ECM and had it flashed to the VIN. This didn't make a bit of difference in the stalls. And it does't always start on the first fifteen trys, but if you give it 30 seconds and try again it will usually start. In conclustion, It appears a fresh fuel pump delivers enough psi to correct whatever is happening and this last fuel pump does sound louder the older it gets. Help, Thanks Bud L.
