01 suburban transmission

Replaced the transmission with a used but guaranteed transmission. New converter installed at time of transmission swap. When you start to accelerate in D, it is taking too long before it shifts into the next gear, but after it shifts the rest change perfect, just wandering if there is an adjustment I could make, but have been told the trucks computer will straighten that out!!
 
1. How long has this been going on for?
2. Did you install the transmission or a shop?
3. Which engine/transmission are you using?
 
It started doing this after the transmission swap.
I installed the transmission, but I am mechanically inclined.
Motor 5.3,transmission 4L60E
 
That is an electronic transmission controlled by the ecm. Do you have a check engine light on? Any diagnosis on that type of transmission has to be done with a Tech II or similar scanner to run tests. I assume you rechecked the fluid level?
