This Malibu is high-milage, almost 200,000 so I know and expect some parts are starting to go. Over the past couple of months though, I have been keeping track of my milage, and at the start I was getting about 17 MPG or so and that seemed low. The milage dropped to around 15.5 to 15, and it would misfire after starting after about a minute or so, then smooth out, but still idle a little rough. I replaced my spark plugs, and it seems to be idling smoother, and it's not misfiring when starting. The problem is that now I'm only getting 13 MPG.

I had my codes read just before I replaced the plugs, and aside from 3 misfires, I was getting a bad Fuel Level switch. So, no relavent codes.

Does anyone have any suggestions for things to check/how to check them. I know I have a broken vac line (white comes from the top of the intake, don't know where it goes), and it's jerry-rigged for now, I can't feel any pull when i wrap my hand around it.

need the exact codes the computer is throwing otherwise it's pure guesswork. At 200k a compression test would be a good idea.

A full tune up, with a throttle body cleaning and some Techron fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank MIGHT help, but Zora has the best advice.

Thanks for the replies. I will try them this weekend, and hopefully I can get the specific codes by then too.

Your friendly Autozone, Advance or O'Reilly folks will check the codes for you free of charge. Just write them down and post them here.
