I have a 2000 Suburban 1500 4WD LT w/5.3 Liter w/Z55 Autoride Suspension. I want to eliminate the autoride suspension and replace all 4 shocks w/Hd shocks. I know how this suspension works and I don't tow or haul anything with it but my wife's butt. I may take it hunting or fishing once in awhile. Every supplier I talk to can't give me a straight answer. Bilstein says they have shocks for it, then they say they don't. When they say they won't work, I think they all mean they aren't the same shock that's on it, not they won't fit. Does anyone have any expierince with this. I'm sure that this is not the first time someone has replaced these shocks before. I do have a mechanic background, so I do know how the system works. Please give me a straight up answer, NOT I think so! I'm wore out with maybe, or i think so, could be. Thanks All!

P.S. I need to get my wife off my back!

I too have a 2000 burb with the autoride suspension. There is a company called Arnott Industries that specalizes in autoride systems and SHOULD steer you towards replacement shocks or atleast information on how and IF it's possible. I know if you replace the sensor shocks front and rear there is a 22 ohm resistor you have to plug into all 4 sensors to trick the computer into thinking you still have shocks installed and they are functioning properly. You will get a error message on the dash supposedly. Their website is: http://www.arnottindustries.com/part_CHEVROLET_Air_Suspension_Parts_yid11.html
IF you do replace your system and shocks I would be interested in your rear shocks if they are not blown out and the compressor!! LMK how it turns out.
