Advice requested high mileage VS armored 98 suburban 2500

Hello everyone,

So I'm planning a trip (about 5000k miles, towing around 5000 pounds) and I have the choice of either purchasing a 180k suburban or an 80k level 7 armored one. I have never owned an armored vehicle before, which is why I wanted to get your point of view. Both are almost the same price and both have the 7.4 engine and are 4x4.

Not enough information.
What years?
Either one equipped with a towing package?
How much more does the armoured one weigh? Heavier the more gas it will use.
How much for each one?
Have you physically seen both of them?

They are both same year 1998
both equipped with towing package
That's the problem, I don't know how much the armored one weighs, found a site that mentions the armor should add around 1220 pounds
Both around $3,800.00
Yeah, the armored one is not leaking any fluids, front end feels good and tight, interior needs work. The stock one needs some suspension work and is leaking oil from the valve covers and power steering line, nothing really bad.

With either one I'm expecting to do some work.

If you didnt intend to tow 5k miles I would say the armoured one due to mileage but an extra 1220 lbs at today's gas prices could have a dollar impact yet at the same time the stock one needs work which may even out the dollar expenditure.
Go with the armoured one is my 2 cents.
