Hello, new here.

My 2010 suburban has had a long existing problem with the starting issues for some time. I corrected the trouble by replacing the negative cable from dealer. Problem went away for about 6 months when I dicovered the "dome light" push button had been re engauged so it would work like normal whan doors open. Wife must have done it , anyway when the dome light push button is enguaged it has a parasitic drain on the battery. If I leave it off, I never have starting trouble.

OK back to A/C, Had to leave the truck parked two days at the ranch and drove pickup to town. When I returned and was ready to drive the suburban back home it just "clicked" and I knew what that sound ment so I hooked up the trickle charger for about 30 minutes and it started and charged at 14 volts approx like normal. I looked down at the outside temp on dash and it said 55 degrees. Hot air was coming out of all vents even though it was on "auto" for 60 degrees. I pulled the BCM fuse and left it out for about 5 minutes and replaced it and found 55 degrees on outside temp again (even though it was 98 degrees outside) I had cold air on driver side but scalding hot air on passenger side!

I had to drive the 120 miles back home with just cold air on driver side and vents closed on passenger side and widow barely cracked open so I would not have a heat stroke.

I figured it would somehow reset itself after two days but no way, still same hot air on passenger side. I try'd all settings I could and now have cold air in rear passenger seats and back but NOT passenger side front.

I have discovered this condition only happens when the battery is down too low to start the engine, it is scary sometimes to see the volt meter flucuate between 12.8 and 14.6 volts and was told the ECM controls the charge voltage only when needed.

Does the BCM need a new program update or something?
I know I am not the only person who has had this problem and looking for a little help before resorting to the good ol dealership.

Thank for listening.

if you disconnect the battery, attach it to the trickle charger until it is fully charged, does the system work correctly?

I will give that a try however during the 120 mile trip back home the voltage guage rose and fell like it normally does when I am not having trouble. I am assuming it is fully charged at this time but will give it a shot.
Thanks

The easiest way to find the cause is to connect to the BCM with the proper diagnostic equipment. Being in Texas I would assume there are private shops in the area that specialize in AC without you having to go to a dealer.

Thanks for the suggestions, here is what I did today to fix the problem.

1. Pulled the BCM fuse (#15 in left dash fuse box) and left it out for 5 minutes.

2. Re installed fuse and then put key in the ignition and turned it to "on" but did not start. I waited and listened to the vent system reset all of the doors, I could hear them going to "home" position.

3. Waited another 5 minutes with key still "on" till the display beeped and said" start engine battery low".

4. Started engine, started normaly, then set A/C controls to auto and waited and sure enough everything works like it should.

5. Lesson learned. When battery is low at marginal levels and you try to start, the low voltage messes up the BCM setting on the acuator motors, they just loose their "home" position.

Only problem still remaining is the parasitic drain on the battery only when the dome light over ride button is not enguaged. If I leave if "off" (over ride) then the battery never is weak even after setting for a few days. I'll live without the dome light comming on when the doors open to avoid this issue.

Would like to know why this happens, and I will try to find out and let evryone here know as soon as I can.

Thanks all

I'm a little confused with your dome light settings. Typically on cars I have seen there are three settings, OFF, Constantly ON, and ON when the doors are open. Do your's work differently?

On this truck there is a flat panel swich that has "Dome" on it. Two positions, in or out. Push in to over ride all auto dome light operations. Normal out will make the dome light come on when the door opens and fade off after 5 seconds when door closes. Length of time to fade out is owner selectable from display panel using customize your setting for the whole truck menu.

I belive the sense circiut is causing the draw down and is over ridden when de activated...hence not drawing down battery. I am going to call the Service manager at Reliable Chevrolet in Richardson, Texas and ask him. Brad has always taken great care to help out anyone in need and I highly recommend their service dpartment. Been dealing with them for over 15 years and never regret anything.

Since I live in Hurst Texas, about a 45 minute drive I think it is well worth the cost to bypass 6 other dealerships along the way.

Hopes this helps.
