Anybody here ever replace there own windshield? Mine needs to get replaced. I did it myself to an old chevy truck I had years ago...would it be wise to try it again or should I just pay the man to do it? ;)

Do you have any cracks or stars in it?

In Florida and some other states the insurance pays 100% to have them replaced if you can show that it is damaged.

Yes it has a crack running all the way across...(thanks to 2009 ice storm :o)
Insurance wont pay for it....imagine that. Been living with it for a while, getting tired of seeing it.

I had one replaced a couple of years ago and it was $150 installed and they came to my house. When I add up the cost of buying the windshield myself, travel for materials and the time to install it, it would have cost me more to do it myself. Even if I pulled the part myself in the junkyard, the time it would take to find a pristine part would have eaten up most of the $150.

That's my plan as well. Plus there's a guarantee on the job. If you do it yourself and it leaks it's guaranteed you'll have to do the work again :p

Yeah....you guys are right. I'll probably just get someone to do it. I'd hate for it to leak and then hear about it from "My Most Beautiful Bride of 20 some odd years"!!! :D
