I'm hoping someone can help me here. I have a 2005 cavalier and I need to have a new transmission put in but I'm having trouble locating a transmission. I was told that because my car has a 2.2 ecotec DOHC engine that a replacement transmission will have to come out of a 2005 cavalier or similar car with the same engine. Whenever I try to locate a transmission online it asks me how many bolt holes are in my bell housing based on date of manufacture. The sticker inside my door list only the month and year of manufacture, not the date. Any advice?

Put in the first day of the month and see what part number they show. Then put in the last day of the month and see what part number they show. If it's the same number you have no problem.

Problem is if car was manufactured through 6/15/04 it has an 8 hole bell housing but if car was manufactured from 6/16/04 it has a 9 hole bell housing, that's why I need to know the exact date.

And you car was made in June 04 I assume. You can try if based on the VIN number a dealer can give you the exact date. You can have the existing transmission rebuilt. You can try to look at the bellhousing and count the number of bolts.
