NEVER LIE!! - especially to your parents, its the first step to them not trusting you! If you are caught - then be grown-up about it and own-up. Tell them you are sorry and have the courage to face the music and be responsible. Don't allow someone else to take the blame for you - as that may happen. If you think you are 'big enough' to drive dad's prized Corvette then you are sure 'big enough' to take the responsibily and blame for any damage you may have caused. Most parents will be mad at first, but they will respect your honesty and they will know you will always tell them the truth.

ya to feign interest in something i get it

i like your usage better though. everyone says feign interest. feign ignorance. maybe that too by some people's standards
