Wire Harness 2000 Chevy Malibu?

I just got a 2000 chevy malibu and I want to move over my old Deck. I want to do it myself this time. Do I need a wire harness? I bought a dash kit.

So do I need a wire harness and if so what is the point of it that makes it easier?
