will a old chevy silverado (78) block fit in a newer one (96)?

hey guys i got a 1996 2wd short bed chevy silverado it blew its 5.7 V8 needs block i was wondering if any one knew if a 1978 chevy Silverado block will fit its also a 350 i believe , i was looking at it and the motor mounts look the same but before i do that can someone please confirm it for me?

i dont kwow but i hope someone has a reply i have a 96 with a 4.3 and would like to go old school also.

the 78 is a gen one, isnt the 96 a gen II requiring a engine compatible with complete computer control

according to this mounts and bellhousing are the same
