will a old chevy silverado (78) block fit in a newer one (96)?

hey guys i got a 1996 2wd short bed chevy silverado it blew its 5.7 V8 needs block i was wondering if any one knew if a 1978 chevy Silverado block will fit its also a 350 i believe , i was looking at it and the motor mounts look the same but before i do that can someone please confirm it for me?

No the crank is different. also the intake won't bolt up . Lots of little things you wont see.
