I have a 1990 Suburban with a 5.7 TBI Gas engine. I am having some starting issues with it. When I try to start it when its cold, it takes a few seconds of cranking and pumping on the pedal. After an initial flooring of the pedal if I ease of to half throttle it starts up.
Once running, it runs like a champ. No Misses, no Hesitation. Idles just as smooth as my 2002 yukon and goes down the road perfectly.
If I make a short stop somewhere, and go to restart the truck,, it won’t fire up. Turns over just fine, just won’t go. But if I shoot a small amount of fuel down the throttle body, it will fire up (when hot). I don’t get it.
So long of the short, Will go when cold without shooting gas down throttle body, but needs pedal help. Won’t go when hot.
It has just about everything new up front.. Plugs, wires, Distributor cap, Coolant sensor, brand new injectors.
I’m at a low. Especially since it runs great once its started. Fuel pressure problem? Or am I looking at a sensor of some sort since it wont start at all when hot.
The Fuel tank on the truck isn’t a suburban tank. The previous owner put a diff tank in. Don’t know if its not a strong enough pump but I would think I would have more probs if the tank/pump were not correct. HELP!
