I have an automatic 2005 Chevy cobalt that i just installed a cold air intake into it, after it being installed my car started shifting really hard into all gears 1st-2nd the worst 2nd-3rd not as bad but still bad, and 3rd-4th still the same thing. It shifts harder when at higher rpms. Is it the intake system that's doing it? If not than what is?

The use of an excessively/over-oiled aftermarket, reusable air filter may result in:

• Service Engine Soon (SES) light on

• Transmission shift concerns, slipping and damaged clutch(es) or band(s)

• Engine driveability concerns, poor acceleration from a stop, limited engine RPM range

The oil that is used on these air filter elements may be transferred onto the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor causing contamination of the sensor. As a result, the Grams per Second (GPS) signal from the MAF may be low and any or all of the concerns listed above may occur.

Try cleaning the mass air flow sensor with a mild cleaner and dry the air filter in the sun for awhile, if it continues replace the MAF sensor.
