When I start the car the headlights come on as they should but the dash lights go into night mode (Dim). The dimmer on the dash works fine and so does the high beam switch. If I turn off the auto light switch (manual mode) the dash lights are bright just like they are suppose to be in the day light. This can only mean the light sensor is bad or has dirt on it.

Any one know where that sensor is located on this car?

I;m not sure about your car specifically, but GM usually puts the sensor on the dashboard. Check the windshield defroster vents. It usually is about the size of a pen and is dark brown/black in color and sticks up out of the dash a bit.
