well budget for 8mpg. my guess w/o knowing more about the truck (mileage on engine/rear gear ratio/etc) is probably closer to 12 or 13, but better to have some extra $ just in case.

I'm really only guessing, but I would say about 10 miles to the gallon. That's my estimate based on the age of the vehicle. Here's something to consider, though: If you are going to load up the truck with luggage and boxes, and have the cab full of people, the gas mileage is going to drop down from what it would be without a load.

I would also say about 10 miles per gallon. I once had a 1976 short box with the same engine and it was terrible on gas.

Fill you,re tank completely, check what you,re milage says. Then the next time you get gas fill it all the way again, see how many gallons it took and how many miles you have went. Divide the miles you went with the gallons it took to fill it.....

Check your mileage as Randy F outlined for you and then figure a loaded truck will do much worse as the others stated. I would be surprised if you get 5 miles to the gallon in mountains or foothills. Coastal plains etc you may get 6.5.
