whats going on with my starter/fuel pump? 04 chevy silverado?

when i i try to start my truck, i can turn the key all the way over but nothing happens. no cranking,clicking tapping. nothing. it almost feels like i cant get fuel to the engine to start it. but it only dose this sometimes. when it wants to. it can go all week with it starting right up, then it acts up again. i've changed my fuel filter and fuel pump. help me?
