I have an 85 suburban with a 350 and want to really wake it up with a new carb. Want to go with a 4 bbl.
Any recommendations?

What is on it now, if a Quadrajet it is an excellant carburetor and is as large or larger CFM wise than anything you would buy. Have you switched to a aftermarket intake? If you have an HEI ignition have you had the distributor recurved? Have you installed headers and larger exhaust system?

My thoughts too. i assume "Want to go with a 4 bbl" means you already have one or you plan to buy an aftermarket manifold for it...or both. The Q-jet is a good carb but I like Holleys because they are easier to tune. An aftermarket intake would optimize anything you go with, but like zora, I would consider the whole package, i.e. headers/exhaust, good distributor, maybe even the cam.

It's never really as simple as a new carb.

Have headers and true dual exhaust all the way back. Maybe an intake would be something I would look into. Thanks

How would I know if I had the HEI ignition? and what do you mean by curved?

I'm guessing since you say "want to go with a 4bbl", that you're running a 2 bbl. A new intake will be needed along with said carburetor if you're going to switch. Too many variables here for me to even guess what you need.
