I'm pretty sure the truck has the 700r4 transmission since it has overdrive. When I go uphill, the truck downshifts like it should but it seems very weak for some reason. The speedometer just stays the same all the way up and the engine revs pretty hard. It's a 350 engine and I would expect more out of it. Could there be something wrong with the transmission or is this normal? Also would a shift kit help anything and does this transmission have a modulator valve that can be adjusted? Thanks.
I have an air intake, top-line tune up parts, and an open 3 inch exhaust with a glasspack and no catalytic converter. I'm not worried about the engine's power, I'm more worried about passing gear.
I am completely aware of what "passing gear" really is. My dad had an old Sable that worked fine in 3rd gear but when it was used as passing gear, it lost all of it's power. Same thing happening here.
The engine is in perfect shape, the whole truck has 112,000 original miles. I'm trying to find out about passing gear....
