I have a 1998 2500 4x4 454 cid. I need to remove the reservoir tank to replace the pump. I have it almost out but it won't pull up and out. It has metal fender wells and you can't get to the pump from there. Any ideas on what I'm forgetting?

I went over that post and seems right but still something is holding the tank in..guess I'll just keep prying away...thanks

From my online manual:

Remove the auxiliary battery and battery tray, if equipped.
Remove the two bolts.
Disconnect the hose(s) from the washer pump(s).
Disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the washer pump(s).
Remove the washer solvent container from the vehicle.

You did unplug the electrical connector, right? If everything is disconnected, then you may just have to turn it or twist it into the correct position to come out. Some can be a real pain in the arse!

Thanks crew,
Finally got the tank out. There are 2 two bolts that protrude into the side of the tank. Used my wonder bar nail puller to push against the tank sides and finally got it to come out..next stop auto zone for a new pump..
Again thanks

Well got the tank out and it has a small leak..I'm sure running dry the pump burned out..new pump in works great..just need to patch the tank..any suggestions? thought I might try CarGo quicksteel from Autozone??

Re: washer reservoir leaks

if it's an obvious crack you can try any epoxy base product.
