I have a silverado 1500 ext cab with a 4.8l vortec motor in it. I have a 2002 8.1 with an Allison tranny out of a wrecked 2500 silverado ext cab. They are both vortec engines so the motor mounts line up and it fits comfortably under the hood of the 1500. I have some money and the tools and shop to do the swap. I have the 8.1 sitting on a frame covered up in my yard with everything except a wiring harness because it got a bit mashed. So I want my 8.1 in my 1500 because it is all custom and pretty so I want it to be quick as well. Where do I start and I need some help finding a wiring harness for sure unless mine will work. I think the 4.8 5.3 5.7 and 6.0 wiring harnesses are all interchangeable, but I am uneducated on the 8.1. Thanks to all answers, and the best answer will get chosen by me. Have a good day.
