Upping the horses on my 2006 chevy malibu?

whats the cheapest couple of ways to raise horse power in a newer car. I already figured i would put an intake in it but im having trouble coming up with any more ideas under $1,000.

Could probably get a new exhaust for 500-700, maybe a computer tuner for 400 or so. Thats about it for less than a grand that I can think of.

besides cold air/ high flow intake you could turbo it you could bore out the cyliders your could do a port and polish you can if you plan on racing take out the back seat and the ac compressor it takes horsepower away thats why u have bad pickup when the ac is on you can get performance headers
and if some1 says nitrous dont try it if u do it it can melt your pistons and seize your engine and idk if you can do it for under 1000 but you could find a bigger engine aka engine swap i have no idea whats the upgrade for the malibu and you could make the valves bigger
