I bought a new black, unprimed plastic front grill for my '93 Silverado C1500 Suburban. The chrome was peeling off the old one. I'm going to paint the grill to match the body paint. Anyone have a suggestion for updating the lights? Parking and headlights? I have KC driving lights on the bumper. I don't want cheap lights. Brighter is good. Angel eyes? Should I go OEM? Mine are pretty glazed over. Anyone had good lick with a particular brand? There are plenty of auctions on ebay that will take my money.

Have you looked at the Sylvania Ultra series of headlight bulbs? They do sacrifice longevity for brightness but are probably cheaper compared to a complete high intensity system.

I'll check them out. I need all new lenses. The polishing just doesn't last. Not sure if I should stay with the OEM style or give it a newer look to go with the painted grill.
I'd like to find a cowl hood for a decent price. I may look into hood louvers.

To fix the glazing on your headlights i use 1600 sandpaper i first wet sand the lights then let them dry ,mask off around the lights then spray on a acrylic clear spray paint do lite coats i did at least 5 coats. Then your done ,make sure you letdry between coats .

I read a Consumer report on premium headlights. They shine brighter but not further. That is more dependent on reflectors and lenses. I was going to get oem style replacement buckets and lenses but I may do a little more research on this, knowing that they will probably cost more.

PS: my replacement grill and filler panel went to the painter today. Have to find lights to get it all back together.

thanks for the link interesting read

I finished installing my new headlights and color-matched grill. I installed a black, powder coated bowtie emblem. The rusty bumper and missing airdam are taken care of too. What a difference the facelift has made. I took a picture, but not sure which (free) site to use to host it and show you.

So what lights did you end up installing?

I decided to go with OEM style headlights and turn signals. With the KC driving lights on the bumper, I decided that anything more modern like angel eyes etc with look funky together. If I knew where to host the pic, I'd let you decide if I was right.
The lights are much brighter now without the cloudy lenses. I'm pleased with the results. I would like to do something with the hood. A cowl hood replacement or functional louvers perhaps. I really need a new headliner first. The PO tore it in a few places.
Decided to try Photobucket to share the pic:
