Spark Plugs on a 01 Chevy Suburban?

I have done many tune ups on many different vehicles but on this particular one, there is a aluminum protector over the spark plug and the wire goes into the middle of it. The wire does not seem to pull out the middle of the protector and even if it would the socket would not fit in there to take the spark plug out. So I think the whole protector comes off with the wire. Anyone know anything about this?

if your talking about the heat shield on the wire it comes off with the wire just twist the boot not the wire and tug on the protector not the wire and it will come off

You may go by your local Auto Zone parts store and ask for advise. While your there pick up a Chilton service manual for your make and model vehicle. They are not cheap, but have tons of information in them.
