I have a 2001 Sub and squeeze out 10 mpg. I think my gauge is wrong bc it reads empty and I've only driven 230 miles. So with a 36 gal tank at 10 mpg, I should get around 360 mile out of a tank full.

How do you guys do?

I have checked the mileage using the odometer a few times. I get about 14.5 mpg in my 1997 1500 5.7L. I mostly drive rural roads and highway. With a 42 gallon tank, I easily get 450-500 miles out of it.

I could get more miles out of a tank full for sure, but the gauge is really inaccurate so I want to play it safe. When I fill it all the way up it reads way above full and does not come down to the full mark until 175 miles have been driven. If the gauge reads 3/4, it is actually 1/2 full. If it reads 1/8, then you are about to run out of gas (as I did at 3am in the middle of nowhere one night).

1999 3/4 ton 4wheel drive limited slip 3.42 axles 454 4l80e transmission snoplow package. 9-11 around town, 10-12 highway.

Never trust a chevy fuel gauge

1999 K1500, 5.7 mixed driving we get about 15.2 MPG

My 1999, 5.7, got 16.1 mpg at my last fill-up. Mostly highway miles at 70 mph.

This is discouraging.
I'm getting ready to take a round trip from Wichita to San Antonio, hauling a U-Haul trailer back. I'm hoping to get my hew headers on before I go. Hopefully they will help with the 3' single exhaust the PO installed. Everything else is tuned up, aligned and ready to go. At $3.60/gal this trip is going to hurt.

I keep a log on all fuel and maintenance issues. Since new in 2002 our Suburban has averaged 17.748 MPG to date. ;)

I just got back from my 1300 mile trip and I averaged 15.6 highway at 70MPH. I'm a little disappointed.

Just purchased a 2009 1500 LT w/ 30,000 miles on it. For the first 4 weeks I'm running 17.1 overall mpg! I'm happy to be doing so well.

I get about 10 mpg in town out of my 99 K1500. Maybe 12 on the highway and I drive 65

i drive a 1991 suburban with a 350 tbi and really i'm not concerned at all what i get for mileage.if your that worried about fuel mileage drive a toyota. i love my truck and don't care what it takes i'll drive it.just saying.

Got mine cause its designed to go anywhere. Right now with 10 year old rusted plugs, two year old gas, and half the stuff not hooked up on the carb, Im getting 12mph, I figure that to improve after I get it all set up correctly.
Mine had the 400 removed and a built 350 installed.
Mu Buds 80 has a 454, and he gets 12 tops, but then he drive 75 dwon the freeway.

Hello everyone! I have a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban C-1500 5.3L 2wd. I believe the tank is 30 Gallons? I have replaced the spark plugs with the Iradium A/C Delco plugs,I have also replaced the Ignition wires. With freeway driving I get 460 miles per tankful, With city driving about380 per tankful.

Anyone here on Fuelly.com posting their mileages? I just got my suburban, and have started tracking fuel on there, but only have one tank in it so far:

I've got a 1990 2500 with a 454 (7.4L if you're French - you KNOW what I mean) with fuel injection, a TH400 tranny, 3.73 gears. This thing can tow anything, and I love it! I agree with some posters thinking that if you're worried about mileage drive a Toyota. If I did, the money I saved on gas would have to be spent on psycho therapy - I'd need it when I realized I was driving a Toyota! So it evens out in the end.

That said, I get 10, but have gotten up to 14 on a long road trip (keep it 65 - 70 mph). I'll be driving 10 hours across California this weekend, so I'll be sure to track it again. BTW, anyone complaining about gas prices that are UNDER $4, needs to come out West for a true rip off.

9 hour trip 12.5 mph in blazing heat. But I love my truck and have zero car payment and pay next to nothing for insurrance, registration and maintainance so I'll pay and extra $ on gas on occasion.
