I have a 2006 Cobalt. It's shit. It's been nothing but a pain in my butt and now the power steering is randomly failing on me. I have done a bit of research, and it seems that hundreds of people have the same problems as I do. It's an electrical steering system, and it requires that I replace a bunch of expensive parts to do it. The price range to fix it is between 900 and 2000 dollars.

I haven't had it long, but I really am reluctant to spend more money on this car that is only THREE years old and already giving me several problems. It was suggested to me that I try to trade it in at a Pontiac dealer, and get one of their new Pontiac's because they are trying to get rid of the cars.

Do you think it's a good idea? Would they even consider paying off my car, so I can get a Pontiac?

Or, should I cough up the cash for this repair?

To anyone thinking about it... DO NOT BUY THE CHEVY COBALT. Just don't.
