Should i get a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4x4?

i am 17 and its time for a ride. My mom has a friend at work who's dad died about a month ago. He left behind his 1992 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 4x4 with manual transmission. They are selling it for $800 and it has barely any rust but the interior is rough which i can easily deal with. I know how to drive manuals as i have experience in motorcycles and i know it is basically the same thing. The reason i am looking to the answers community for guidance is because i want the truck owners thoughts on if this truck will last me at least a year or 2 till i go to basic training for the Marine Corps. Mileage is unknown as of yet and i expect it runs. But If anyone has owned a '92 chevy silverado 2500 any thoughts or facts are appreciated. thanks
I would also like to know What motor it has in it (IZUZU, Vortec, etc..) and how many liters it is. It is a '92 silverado 2500 V8 4x4 manual tranny

1 get it if you need 4 wheel drive its gona suck gas like you cant believe
its a standard small block most are 5.3 vortecs but could have a 6.0
basically a good truck but i like 1996 and later as they have the better OBD2 computer system,,,but at that price it runs,,,buy it typical ones in my hood sell for 2500 and up if running good
