I am thinking about buying 1972 Chevrolet Nova SS350. The price is offered at $23,990. I talked to them and had it down to $20,000. Is that a good deal? Car has been rebuilt from the engine to the interior. It looks like new and not much rust at the bottom of the car. Should I buy it?

Website to the car is http://www.flemingsultimategarage.com/galleria_detailed.php?id=C195nhs=0make=cat=Chevroletmt3=
The website has car info, pictures and even has the video of the car.

I would not... I think you could do much better for that kind of money. The Chevy Nova SS was a popular muscle car in its day. But they were also a dime a dozen. So they are not that rare. Not to mention about the only thing that separated a regular Nova from the SS version is the 350 motor. Those are also a dime a dozen and it was very common for people to convert the regular Nova to a Hi Po Nova by dropping in a 350 with a few performance add ons.

This car would only be worth that kind of money if it were a low mileage original survivor in excellent condition. This car does not appear to be that and was not restored to it's original factory specifications. So there is no caveat there. It was also not restored to be anything more than a run of the mill Hi Po Nova... nothing special there either.

Nobody is going to see you cruising down the road in this and say Wow... is that a Nova SS!?. You can also see what they are going for on e-bay motors. There are plenty of them for sale out there.

That being said the Nova SS or a suped-up Nova can be a good performance buy for the buck. There are a ton of them out there and it doesn't take much to drop a 350 V8 and a four speed into one of those and burn some rubber. With a little research and Know how... you should be able to accomplish they same result for a lot less than $20,000.00.
