OK, As a dummy, I tried taking my alt apart to paint it. Once I broke the brushes on the voltage regulator. I summonsed professional help. I had a alt repair shop look at it, it took 3 days to get it fixed, they also found a bad diode. Well today, I go and hook it up. I start it up and I get the message SERVICE CHARGING SYSTEM, and I my gauges read 11.8 Battery Voltage.
All my connections are good. Fuses look good
Any Ideas?
Is there a FUSIBLE LINK?
I have the test sheet, which they supplied with the repaired alternator. Here are the readings
Max Output Power 2190 watts
Max Output under full load 171 amps
Voltage Regulator Set Point 14.45 Volts
Voltage Regulator Set Point (hot) 14.43
Turn On Speed 1083 rpm
Voltage Regulator Soft Start Delay 5 secs
Voltage Regulator Load Responce Control 2 secs
Leakage Current Tested @12 volts 1.20 mAmps
Leakage Current Tested @12 volts (hot) .52 mAmps
Ripple Current @ 2500 rpm 37 amps
I re-connected in this order, Plug n ALT, Wire on Alt, Pos Battery Cable, Neg Battery Cable. When I hooked the Neg up, there was sparks from the starter area
Optima Red about 3 months old
2005 LS2
There is a number on the card that matches a number on Alt.
The starter has never been touched.
You would have to see pics of why I am painting alt, engine is not stock in appearance
Wire goes from Alt to Starter Solenoid
