Replacing aftermarket radio in Silverado back to factory OEM, doe sit need to be reprogrammed at dealership ?

bought 2015 SIlverado 1500 WT extended cab in 2017, already had an aftermarket 4" screen radio installed in place of the factory stereo. 8 months ago, my dash cluster guages quit working and all the trouble lights came on, radio quit working also, 2 days later everything started working again, happened again 1 month ago and took truck to dealership, they said it had something to do with aftermarket radio drawing down the high and low communication lines on the truck... disconnected radio and everything works, connect radio and everything quits working. Told them to leave the radio unplugged with power. Ive bought the basic factory OEM radio that originally came in this truck... Ive heard I will have to have it programmed at the dealership in order for it to work and Ive also heard its plug n play. Anyone have a definite answer?

Either way you have to install the radio first so see what happens. Not sure if Theftlock is still a radio feature in 2015 but owners manual makes no mention of it.
