I had my 2001 chevy malibu running at a gas station. Some man out of nowhere approached me and said that there is an issue with the engine itself. He said he was a mechanic at a GM dealer and that a a switch needs to be reset for oil pressure to reach the valve cover valley. He said something along the lines of TCC, TSS?? Obviously It cant be Torque converter switch because its located in the transmission. He said that it dosent need replacement and only needs to be reset. Has anyone heard of this? He offered to do it right then and there and mentioned it only takes seconds. I'm a fairly good mechanic and never heard such a thing.

If you call a GM dealership with your VIN they can tell you of any outstanding recalls.

Sounds a little odd. If I was getting a recalled part repaired, I'd want it done in a dealership to have proof that it was done and so that I had someone to fall back on should any issues arrise from the repair.

You can always get recall info from the manufacturer or by checking with the NHTSA.
