Hello, obviously I am a female and when it comes to auto stuff I dont know too much. So here is my question. My friend came and looked at my truck and said I need a new rear end. My question, what is this part called and what is the least expensive way to go about fixing this? Thank you in advance for all your help

some junkyards install just call around to get good price

It is the big part that makes you back wheels spin, and sorry but this is usually really expensive (not a small part). I would take it to a car garage to have it checked and estimated. Good Luck!

What did your friend do besides look ? There has to be some diagnosis to make a decision. I would suggest you get a second opinion. What brought the problem to your attention? Give some more info. and maybe get some help. Rear end work can be expensive and needs a QUALIFIED mechanic to do it.

When replaceing, if it is a 4wd, you have to get the same gear ratio, if not you will fry the transfer case and possibly the front axel. Have to tear apart original and find out, or look at sticker in bottom of glove box for code. If confused, call local dealer and they can help you with code reading.
