Patient is a 2003 Chevrolet Suburban 4X4 with 160k miles.

It has happened twice and we seem to think the first gear on the tranny is ghonna go soon, but....

When accellerating it started to go into first gear but then went to second.
The other time this happened is when it was loaded with tree's on a trailer. Came to a stop at a hill, and when traffic was clear to turn, the accelerator was depressed and the engine revved a little bit and moved very slowl. Tried it again and it responded nicely.

Odd thing is it only has happened twice. Tranny is original.

any input CV?

When is the last time you changed the fluid and filter?

The key is the filter being clogged.

were is the filter...I'll look for myself. though I think it is the tranny itself cos 160k on an oem tranny does do something. not leaking a drop of t fluid though.
thanks

It is inside the transmission pan.

Most people never think about changing the transmission fluid and filter. I change mine every 50,000 miles as a preventative thing. I've never lost an automatic transmission in 40 years of owning and driving cars.
