Hi,
Is there any way to manually setp up the idle from 500rpm to say 1000 or 1200 so I can get maximum charging amperage out of my alternator?
I only need about 1500W to run baseboard hot water heat, sump pump, internet, laptop, satellite box and small LCD TV. I checked each curent draw with the kilawatt power meter
I have made a "power cart" that consists of (3)12v 125AH batteries wired in parallel that are connected to a 3000w pure sine wave inverter on a heavy duty Costco plastic cart.
For a minimal power outage to run the sump pump I can run off the cart for a few hours, but if a power outage is longer I made provisons using #350 anderson connectors and 4/0 cable to supply power from my Tahoe's alternator via the battery terminals in the truck while the truck is running.
The truck running is quieter and cleaner than a screaming gas generator, and I can disconnect from the cart to fill up the tank then come back and connect again. I can also disconnect the inverter from the battery bank and run it directly from the truck/battery. The inverter only weighs about 20lbs.
Here are a few pics of the setup......any advise on manually raising the idle a little when needed would be appreciated!
