Last year I bought a 2000 chevy malibu with 163,000 miles on it. right after I bought it from the dealership it started overheating. The heater wouldn't work it would blow out cold air. They soon put a new engine in it and it started running fine. Now that it's summer the air conditioning wouldn't work. So we got a leak fixed and filled it with frion and it started working. Now the car is running hot again all the time even when the air is off. It didn't do this until the air was fixed. Now the car gets really hot just going around the corner, letting the gauge almost hit the red mark. and the heater now blows out cold air again just like it used to. Does anyone know what the problem could be or how I could fix it? Should I get rid of the air conditioning? I have had nothing but problems with this car since I bought it and I am still paying it off. It's the biggest pain ever.
