I have a '01 Chevrolet Silverado. Recently the Low Coolant message came on. I filled the coolant, then a few days later the light came back on. Nothing leaks from underneath the truck when it is parked. Someone said I might have a blown head gasket and the coolant is leaking into the oil. Anyone have any ideas?

a compession test will not likely tell you if you had a bad head gasket unless it was really bad. Napa sells a block tester. It checks for combustion gases in the cooling system. You warm your truck up. Put some of the blue stuff in a small plastic sniffer and pump it over the open coolant bottle. If it changes color you probably have either a bad head gasket or more likely a bad intake manifold gasket which is alot more common.
