I recently purchased a Rochester Quadrajet 4bbl carb for my Nova 350 sbc engine. The old carb had a manuall auto choke. I installed this new (used) carb and it has an electric choke control.
My question is, where do I get the hot wire from to power this electric choke. And there are 2 other electrical connection on the carb that I have no idea what they do or where they draw power from. Any help from a Quadrajet experienced member would be great.

Check the wires going to the windshield wiper motor for one that is hot only when the engine is running. You can tap into that wire for power to the choke coil. Concerning other wires, do you know what year or application the carburetor was originally intended for? Do you know the carburetor number? Hopefully you didn't buy a computer controlled carburetor?

Today I got the carb installed, put in a new few filter on. Started it up and it seems to run fine for about 30 seconds, then it seemed to flood. Cranked on it and got weak attemps to fire, but I think plugs were drenched.

Zora Without the wire hooked up to the electric choke do you know what position its in? Is the choke "on" or "off"? If the choke is ON that would explain my flooding problem. There are 2 other electrical female plugs on this carb. I read that they showed up after the emmissions laws went into effect. Can I just ignore those and have a smooth running Nova?

the choke should be closed when the engine is cold and the wire heats up a coil and opens it. You can't run the car without the wire hooked up and the choke opening.

Thanks Zora for answering my questions. Tomorrow I will find a hot wire and run it to the electric choke and see if that doesnt solve my flooding issue.
