Phoned the dealer on replacing the key fob's for my 98 suburban as the previous owner lost the original's---quoted $65 plus $25 to activate ---does this sound reasonable ???

Definitely check ebay. I got a couple off there for my Equinox for $15 each. The owners manual tells how to program them. If you don't have an owners manual, try youtube. You'd be amazed at what you can find there.

Double checked with the dealer---$63 apiece plus $50 to program --looked on ebay but only for newer vehicles, mines a 98 gmc suburban---glove box code for fob os auo. Any help out there ??

Wow, my local dealer (Star Buick GMC in Allentown PA) wanted $81 for the fob and $50 to activate. Even by dealer standards, they were ready to rip me off.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to follow up on this - I ended up finding this auction on Ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/330635992052

It's a genuine GM key fob from Kendall Chevrolet in Eugene OR, not a made-in-China knockoff. The dealership's Ebay account is 'chevypartsguys':

I ended up calling their parts department and spoke to Chris, their internet parts guy. He was extremely helpful and helped me out with some other parts (also at quite a discount). I have no connection with them, other than being a happy customer.

- Chris
