Hello, I have a 2006 Chevy Express 65k with some power steering problems. I did not see a forum for the van so I thoughts the trucks might be a close match. I have been hearing rougher winding noise when driving but I thought it was my latter. Lately I had had a hard time steering (intermedent power steering). I went to the dealer and they diagnosed a leaking steering gear, bad inner tie rods, idler arm and pitman arm and an alignment required. (they wanted close to $2000 for all that) so I decided to do it myself as I have all the tools for the job. I replaced everything, but I'm still having the issue. I'm starting to believe its the pump. BTW, the fluid smelled like it was burned prior to taking it to the dealer.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
The dealer was right with the fact that the gear was leaking and that the inner tie rods were bad.
Thanks
